JOHOR BARU: Police arrested 15 foreigners who were partying at an entertainment centre here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said they raided the centre in Taman Johor Jaya here at around 10.30pm on Sunday (Nov 21).

“We found nine men and six women, who were from a neighbouring country, partying in the premises.

“We also seized 30 assorted pills, packets of powdered drinks suspected to contain drugs, a digital scale and RM356 in cash.

“We also found a 0.35g packet of syabu hidden in one of the suspect’s socks,” he said, adding that seven suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

All 15 suspects, aged 28 to 38 years old, did not possess valid social visit passes.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi said the suspects were placed under remand for 14 days for investigation under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act as well as Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said the suspects would also be investigated under Section 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 as their actions violated the standard operating procedures (SOP) of Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan.

He reminded the public not to take part in entertainment activities and refrain from violating the SOP, and to always maintain physical distancing.
