ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state government has made preparations for adequate amenities for the public to help them adhere to Covid-19 standard operation procedures (SOPs) at all public places once interstate travel is allowed.
Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said that this includes all rest and recreation (R&R) service areas on the highways heading in and out of Johor.
“We have recently received over seven million face masks donated by our neighbour, Singapore that we plan to distribute to all members of the public aside from making hand sanitisers available at every public place.
“We wanted to ensure that those that are travelling between states are adhering to the SOPs set by the government,” he said when met by reporters after the launching ceremony of National Sports Day 2021 at Kota Iskandar, here on Saturday (Oct 9).
He added that the process of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for teenagers in Johor has gone smoothly and is expected to reach its target before the end of October.
“We have reached over 90% of our adult population receiving at least one dose of the vaccines without any hiccup and the same goes for our teenagers’ vaccination programme.
“So those who wish to travel into Johor, rest assured, because we have prepared everything that is needed to, especially at the health facilities,” he said, adding that the health facilities also provided Covid-19 screen tests.
Meanwhile, during his speech, Hasni informed that the state has allocated RM12mil under the Johor Master Plan 2030 to conduct various sports programmes in the state.
“We aim to turn the sports industry into our new economic source by organising sports tourism activities in Johor.
“The government is aiming to cement our state as the sports powerhouse not only in the country but throughout the region,” he said, adding that the state will do everything that it can to achieve this target and make sure it won’t be left only “on paper”.
