KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended the day marginally lower as cautious sentiment weighed on buying patterns amid a lack of positive leads.
At 5pm, the FBM KLCI was nearly flat at 1,522.27 points, down 0.61 of a point. Trading volume stood at 3.15 billion units worth RM2.32bil.
There were 402 gainers against 506 losers while 440 counters were unchanged. Trading volume stood at 3.03 billion units worth RM2.09bil.
Dealers said the local bourse traded sideways today with selling interspersing with buying in heavyweight stocks.
ViTrox was the top gainer on Bursa Malaysia, jumping 56 sen to RM20.82, followed by Kuala Lumpur Kepong, which added 54 sen to RM20.80, Nestle, which rose 50 sen to RM133.50 and Seni Jaya added 28 sen to RM3.08.
KESM fell 50 sen to RM13.30, Genetec lost 42 sen to RM40.64, CI Holdings declined 24 sen to RM3.10 and Carzo gave up 17 sen to RM2.09.
Among the banks, Maybank fell four sen to RM8.12, RHB Bank declined two sen to RM5.31 and Hong Leong Bank lost two sen to RM18.28.
CIMB and Public Bank closed unchanged at RM5.19 and RM4.07 respectively.
Elsewhere in the region, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.58% to 29,302.66, while South Korea’s Kospi ended down 3.04 points, or 0.10%, at 2,994.29.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.1%, to 24,685.50.
China’s Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.1% to 3,592.70 points and CSI300 index rose 0.1%, to 4,916.66.
